According to records, George Aucutt was killed on 10th March, 1915. However, having been relieved from trenches at Kemmel in Belgium on 4th March, the 2nd Royal Irish Rifles battalion of 7 Brigade, 3rd Division,were then in billets at Westoutre until returning to the front line on 12th March. The battalion diary provides no information about this time spent at Westoutre so the circumstances concerning his death are not known. He could have been killed while on a working party, he may have been temporarily attached to another unit or simply the date of his death may have been incorrectly recorded.
